Welcome to Rhapsody! We are a music themed bohemian style bar with a focus on amazing cocktails, shareable food and, of course, great music. We opened in October 2020 with the promise of becoming a positive community asset. We love to create food, drinks, and an atmosphere that are unique in Woodland Park, CO.
Our name comes from the Queen song: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ We hope to embody the bohemian spirit as well as the musical definition of Rhapsody, which is free flowing in structure, has an air of improvisation and promises to take you on a journey.
The Rhapsody building was originally built in 1950 as the United Gas Company building. The building was designed by Jan Ruhtenberg, a well-known architect at the time. Ruhtenberg helped to deign the Rockefeller Apartments net to Rockafeller Center as well as the now destroyed El Pomar Carriage House next to the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.
After the gas company sold it, the building was many things…an office for a small newspaper, a place where art classes were taught, a wine bar, and more. It was vacant for several year before being purchased and renovated for Rhapsody.
